This Is Only the Beginning
As the tents come down, the archway is lifted away, the last sentences of Porch Paper are being written, and Langston Park begins to trade the energy of the Carter Work Project build week for the steady rhythm of Atlanta Habitat construction once again, one thing is clear: this is only the beginning.
For one extraordinary week, Langston Park was filled with hard hats, the symphony of a thousand hammers hammering, music, celebration, and the unmistakable energy of Atlanta showing exactly what it means to build different. Now, as the crowds disappear and the site grows quieter, the deeper work continues. What took shape during Carter Work Project was powerful, and the story of this community is still unfolding. While 24 homes moved forward during the build, there are still 40 more homes to construct.
We hope you will continue the journey with us.
By signing up for Atlanta Habitat’s general newsletter, you can stay connected not only to updates from Langston Park, but also to the many other ways we are creating opportunities across our city. From repairing and preserving homes so longtime residents can remain rooted in the neighborhoods they love, to preparing future homeowners for success, to helping ReStore patrons give home goods another chance to make lived spaces more beloved while fueling the mission – this work continues far beyond a single build week.
There are also many more stories to tell.
As Langston Park grows, we will continue to share the journeys of future homeowners, the neighbors who will soon call this community home, and the people helping make it all possible and who demonstrate how Atlanta Builds Different. Carter Work Project introduced you to 24 remarkable homebuyers, but they are only the beginning of the community that will one day fill Langston Park with life.
We would love for you to keep following along, keep meeting the neighbors still to come, and keep finding ways to be part of this work. Because the story of Langston Park is still being written.
